“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”
I’m sitting in one of my favourite places, thinking of things both positive and beautiful. That’s when I write a list of all that I’m grateful for at that moment:
There’s not a day where there is not something to be abundantly thankful for.
In the last few months in particular I’ve been impacted by people who have been outstandingly generous. These people have a generosity that goes above and beyond anything that is required of them: they have been generous in their time, their finance, their love, and their encouraging words. Because of their generosity I have become more aware of where I can be generous, going beyond convention, and doing something out of the ordinary for another person.
By having a generous spirit we can impact our world.
When a rush of dreams, hopes or desires tear across my mind I find it hard to restrain my impulse to rush ahead in a violent frenzy and try to accomplish it all in one day. Waiting patiently isn’t something that comes easily to me – I’m a kind of ‘lets find a way to fix it now’ person.
I had a moment wondering how I can hold out and wait for the plans to come to pass when I heard the still small voice from within say ‘Just do today.’ I looked back and found that I managed to have patience and hope for today.
When I jumble all the days together that gather on the distant horizon of dreams fulfilled it seems that the space between now and then is too great. If I can bring the focus on today then peace enters in and I can practice consistency and love in the small things that I’ve been given to do, knowing that these small acts pave the way to a big future. So when my mind runs ahead of itself I’ll remind myself to faithfully and cheerfully ‘just do today.’
